Welcome
Often our troubles and our resources tend show up embedded in patterns of relating: to other people and to ourselves. These patterns may resist even our best efforts to change them on our own.
My approach to therapy is rooted in empathically attuned listening and collaborative dialogue. Inspired by the work of CG Jung and others in the psychodynamic tradition I try to get to know who my client is, how they live in the world, and what forces may have shaped them.
Thinking and feeling together in the therapeutic space I welcome close attention to memories, emotions, present experience, the subtleties of inner life, and the various relational contexts and social currents that add depth and complexity to our day to day lives.
In identifying themes, patterns, and associations—whether in relationships with others, habits of mind, dreams, or life events— my clients may develop paths of understanding and change that are truly their own.
Though we can't know in advance what effect, if any, will come from therapy many find that meaningful change begins to take shape in the therapy relationship and continues to unfold over time as part of our ongoing life's story.
